Community Resources

One of the primary goals of the NICE lab is to create free nutrition educational resources that our community can utilize.

For Families

The Family Meal Project Website, familymealproject.fiu.edu was created to help parents navigate healthy eating for their families. The website includes research briefs, nutrition tips for children based on their developmental stages, nutrition basics, strategies families can use to create a positive home food environment and a variety of other resources!

For Teachers

The Mentoring, Education and Nutrition Knowledge for Teachers to Reduce Obesity Risk in Children (MENTOR) project is a program aimed at reducing the risk of overweight/obesity in elementary school aged children. The resulting MENTOR project website, https://www.mentorprojectfiu.com, can be used in the classroom and includes a variety of teacher resources, lesson plans, printables and even parent newsletters. MENTOR lesson plans integrate nutrition content into 4 primary subject areas: English, Math, Science and Social Studies so that teachers can easily meet educational standards while promoting child nutrition at the same time!
